Julia McGary, M.Ed.
I’m a clinician inspired by authentic human connection. I believe therapy is a collaborative process built on trust, compassion, and understanding. My role is to help guide and support the process while we work together to create an approach that honors your experiences, strengths, and goals.
Life experiences, stress, trauma, grief, and anxiety can leave us feeling disconnected from ourselves. When our minds become overwhelmed, it can affect our emotions, our bodies, our relationships, and our overall sense of balance. I take a holistic, person-centered approach that recognizes the connection between mind, body, and emotional well-being. My work incorporates a blend of talk therapy, mindfulness-based practices, emotional regulation skills, and strengths-based interventions to help clients feel more grounded, self-aware, and connected to themselves.
My approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and trauma-informed care, while always adapting the therapeutic process to meet the individual needs of each client. I strive to create a space where clients feel safe being fully themselves, without judgment, while developing practical tools they can carry into everyday life.
My professional background includes supporting individuals through anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, emotional dysregulation, adjustment difficulties, and life transitions. I also have a growing passion for women’s mental health and perinatal mental health, including postpartum mood disorders and perinatal loss. My goal is to help clients feel more equipped to navigate life with resilience and self-compassion.
I invite anyone considering therapy to view it not as a sign of weakness, but as the beginning of deeper understanding, healing, and self-awareness. Starting the process can feel vulnerable, but it can also become one of the most meaningful investments you make in yourself.
